Review: Fake Me a Match by Lauren Barnholdt

Fake Me a Match is fiction written by Lauren Barnholdt about a girl named Avery whose mom divorced and married a man who had a daughter named Blake the same age as Avery!  On the first day of school together, Blake develops a crush on a boy named Sam, and becomes best friends with Sophie, Avery’s ex-best friend who decided to not be friends with her anymore.  Avery is disappointed because Blake was supposed to be her best friend! Later in the day, Avery has a student council meeting and is assigned to be the leader! She is excited to do it until she finds out the charity project they’re doing is a matchmaking service! She thinks it’s a bad idea, but she agrees to it.  Avery has a crush on a boy named Kevin, but she’s starting to like Sam while he is helping her train their dogs. When everyone takes the test for the matchmaking service, Avery is nervous that Blake won’t get matched up with Sam and will be upset.  So when it is time for her to insert the papers into the machine, Avery fixes the results so Blake will be with Sam and she will be with Kevin.  She messes up and accidentally reverses the results so Blake is sad.  Ms. Tosh, the teacher for student council finds out that someone fixed the results and Avery gets in trouble.  Blake hosts a party and invites Sam, but will everything turn out the way Avery wants it to or the way Blake wants it to?

This is a great book for people who like reading about middle school drama and boys.
