Review: I So Don't Do Makeup by Barrie Summy

I So Don’t Do Makeup is a fictional mystery written by Barrie Summy about a teenage girl named Sherry who is trying to solve a mystery about someone trying to sabotage a local makeup store called Naked Makeup. It all begins when Sherry hosts a sleepover and invites her friends Junie, Brianna, and Kim. It is a makeup themed sleepover and she gets lots of makeup from Naked Makeup for them to wear (except for Kim who doesn’t wear makeup). Everything seems to be going fine until they wake up in the morning and their faces are red and flakey! They race to the makeup store and tell Amber and Lacy, who work there all about the incident. Both of them are stumped. When they get back home, Sherry summons her mom (who died a while ago during her job and is now a part of the Academy of Spirits, a ghost organization that supports humans and keeps them safe) and tells her all about the mystery. Her mom disappoints her by saying that she can’t help with the makeup problem and Sherry shouldn’t either. The next day, Sherry goes to the Dairy Queen where she can enter the Academy of Spirits. She makes it past a bunch of little kids and she’s in! She talks to the head, Ms. Howard but she too tells her Sherry isn’t allowed to investigate. Will Sherry try to crack the mystery to help Lacy and Amber or will she listen to Ms. Howard and her mom?

This is a great book for kids who love mysteries and makeup!
